Tenute Rubino

Family passion and winemaking vision in the heart of Salento.

Tenute Rubino is a Salento-based winery founded in 2000 by Luigi Rubino, with family roots in viticulture dating back to the 1950s, when premium grapes were first cultivated in the province of Brindisi. Today the estate is led by Luisa Rubino, co-founder and winemaker — one of the first women in Puglia to hold this role with recognized authority. With a total of 220 hectares across three estates — Torre Testa, Rosa del Golfo and San Marzano — Tenute Rubino produces wines exclusively from estate-grown grapes, with special focus on native varieties, including the rare Susumaniello.

History and Winemaking Philosophy

The story of Tenute Rubino began in the 1950s, when the Rubino family started cultivating quality grapes in Brindisi. For decades these grapes were sold to third parties, until in 2000 Luigi and Luisa Rubino chose a new path: to produce their own wines — authentic, modern expressions of Salento. A key turning point was the decision to focus on native varieties, especially **Susumaniello**, once nearly forgotten and now the star of distinctive wines such as Kronos and Ammàre.
The winemaking philosophy rests on three pillars: deep knowledge of the territory, parcel-specific selection, and respectful vinification that highlights varietal character. The modern winery is designed to enhance the grapes’ natural qualities, with measured use of wood and strict technological control. Every bottle from Tenute Rubino tells a story of land, sun, passion and courage — that of a family who transformed a farming tradition into an internationally recognized wine project.
