The 1952 Brindisi DOP Riserva is one of the symbolic wines of the Sampietrana winery. The date shown on the label celebrates the birth of the San Pietro Vernotico cellar which has now passed the milestone of 70 vintages. This wine comes from a blend of Negroamaro and Montepulciano grapes grown in the countryside of San Pietro Vernotico in the province of Brindisi on medium-textured clay mixed with limestone soils. The grapes come from 50-year-old plants grown with the classic Apulian sapling system with a yield of around 60 quintals per hectare.

The addition of 20% Montepulciano grapes integrates perfectly with the Negroamaros, giving this wine a more intense colour, more body and even greater longevity.

The manual harvest is carried out starting from the second week of September. Once harvested, the grapes are quickly taken to the cellar where, after the destemming process, they remain in contact with the skins for about 2 weeks. Once drawn off, the wine ages for 6 months in French oak barrels.

Brindisi DOP 1952 is presented in the glass with an intense, extraordinarily elegant ruby red colour. The aroma is vinous with notes of wild berries and cherries. Delicate flavour, rightly tannic and very persistent. It goes well with spicy first courses, roast meats and aged cheeses.

Pairings: Perfect to accompany platters of cold cuts and cheeses, it goes divinely with tagliatelle with wild boar sauce and game.
