In 1962, to demonstrate the high wine potential of Salento, 19 winemakers founded “Cantine San Marzano”.

62 Anniversari0 Primitivo di Manduria DOP Riserva was created to remember those important days for the whole of Salento. It is obtained from Primitivo grapes produced from very old vineyards of at least sixty years of age selected in the municipalities of San Marzano (TA) and Sava (TA). The vineyards grow on a soil based on fine-textured residual red earth with limestone substrate, sparse rocky outcrops and an intense presence of iron oxides.

Cultivation is carried out with the traditional Apulian sapling method with a yield of 5,000 plants per hectare. The harvest begins in the second half of September, and the vinification is carried out using an overripe grape which is harvested manually. Maceration takes place for 18 days on 80% of the mass and for 25 days on 20%, with indigenous yeasts selected in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 24-26 ° C.

The wine is presented in the glass with a very intense and elegant ruby ​​red color; broad and complex bouquet, fruity with hints of plums, cherry jam and tobacco notes, slightly spicy; full-bodied wine, soft and rich in noble tannins with a finish that gives notes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla.
