The wines of the Antica Masseria del Sigillo take their name from the 1950s cellar that Claudio Quarta bought in Guagnano, and from which the Apulian productive and entrepreneurial adventure started. From that magical place, the production of the Antica Masseria del Sigillo line was later transferred to the new Tenute Eméra winery, immersed in the vineyards close to the Ionian coast.

The Antica Masseria Primitivo di Manduria PDO wine by Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo is produced from primitivo grapes obtained from vineyards cultivated with spurred cordon on medium-textured soils with the presence of silica, clay and sand and abundant skeleton (stones, pebbles and gravel). inside the Tenute Eméra farm, between the Lizzano and Pulsano marinas. The yield per hectare is 90 quintals

The grapes are harvested in the first decade of September and after careful selection the grapes are de-stemmed and crushed, then left to macerate and ferment in concrete tanks for about 15 days. The extraction of color and polyphenolic and aromatic components is favored by daily pumping over of the liquid fraction on the cap of marc. The wine ends its refinement with a passage in barrique for 12 months followed by refinement in the bottle.

This Primitivo di Manduria DOP is presented in the glass with a beautiful intense red color that is enriched with garnet reflections over time. Intense hints of ripe fruit, among which blackberry, mulberry and cherries stand out, emerge in this wine, together with spicy notes. Velvety tannins manifest themselves in the soft and juicy finish.

Pairings: rich first courses of the Italian tradition, red meats and aged cheeses.
