PIETRAFINITA is a great red wine produced by the Feudi di Guagnano company.

For this wine are used grapes from small trees fifty years old and more, which produce small clusters.

PIETRAFINITA, remains in the memory from the first taste. The name of this wine derives from “pietrafinita” that is the boundary stones, stones that have remained for centuries in the same place where our ancestors had placed them in order to delimit the boundary of their vineyards.

The grapes come from vineyards located in the Maruggio/Sava area and the harvest is done manually at the beginning of September. The vines from which this great Primitivo is obtained are composed of vines of about 60 years, and the total annual production is around 6,500 bottles with a very low agronomic yield of about 40 quintals per hectare with a plant density of 4,000 – 4,500 vines per hectare, grown with the classic and traditional Apulian sapling system. Small bunches of Primitivo are placed in single-layer wooden boxes for drying which lasts approximately 30 days. At the end of the drying period, the grapes are gently destemmed pressing. The fermentation of the grapes lasts approximately two weeks. The resulting wine ages for 12 months in French oak barriques and then for 6 months in bottle. Complex and elegant on the nose with sensations of black cherry and licorice. In the mouth an interminable finish of cocoa and wild berries.

Pairing: To be preferred in combination with Braised wild boar; Fresh blue goat cheese; Canestrato from Puglia.
