Susumaniello, an indigenous and ancient vine from Salento, reveals a robust and enveloping history with bunches full of colour. Its name, a dialectal whisper that translates to “little donkey”, reveals its curved and mysterious nature. In the warm embrace of the sun, Susumaniello grows patiently, revealing a subtle texture that gives the wines an enveloping depth.

The grapes are harvested in mid-September when they reach full ripeness, and after transport to the cellar, they are destemmed and macerated for about a week at a controlled temperature of around 22-24°C. Once the fermentation phase is completed, the wine rests first in steel and then in French oak barriques.

Susumaniello Cantele appears in the glass with an intense ruby red color, with faint violet reflections. On the nose the bouquet is rich, composed of red fruits, raspberries and plums. Cinnamon, black cherry, red rose petals and, in the finish, white pepper are also perfectly identifiable. In the mouth the taste is characterized by a good gustatory balance between softness and alcohol content. Wine with soft tannins, good freshness and great drinking pleasure.

PAIRING: To be combined with cured meats and medium-aged cheeses, white and red meats, or drunk slightly chilled to accompany grilled meats in summer.
