The Teresa Manara Primitivo by Cantele is an outstanding wine produced using Primitivo grapes cultivated with the trellis and cordon-trained system, as well as the classic and traditional Puglian bush vine system, in the region of Guagnano (Province of Lecce).

The name of this wine pays homage to Teresa Manara, a tribute her son Augusto Cantele wanted to offer. Teresa Manara traversed Italy during the years when business ventures were still predominantly reserved for men, and her strong character continues to influence the most significant selections of Chardonnay, Negroamaro, and Primitivo signed by her son Augusto Cantele in the 1990s.

The grape harvest typically begins in early September, involving a combination of mechanical and manual harvesting. Following the pressing, the grape must remains in contact with the skins for maceration for about 10 to 12 days. The fermentation temperature ranges between 22 and 24°C. After the completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barriques for approximately 12 months. This Primitivo wine can continue to evolve for at least 10 years.

It presents itself with a ruby red color and violet reflections. On the nose, it exudes wild and exuberant aromas, including black cherry, cassis, and mint, as well as notes of bay leaves, cumin, and sage. A hint of rhubarb and a subtle smoky undertone can be detected. Iron, vetiver, and Gargano orange add complexity. In the mouth, the wine has a generous, rich, and velvety entrance. It boasts an impressive structure with acidity that supports a substantial tannic framework without ever becoming aggressive.

Pairings: Perfect for grilled beef and pork, Genovese-style meat dishes, and pork spare ribs in sauce.
