Cantina San Marzano takes its name from the town where it was born, namely San Marzano di San Giuseppe (Taranto_Puglia/Italy) in northern Salento.
The history of this winery has its roots in the second half of the twentieth century when in 1962 nineteen winemakers of the territory joined together to enhance their work. Thus the first nucleus of Cantine San Marzano was born, today the leader of the regional wine sector.
Today, Cantina San Marzano is a cooperative that has about 1,200 winemakers, chaired by Francesco Cavallo. The enhancement and preservation of the Pugliese Alberello are at the heart of this winery’s commitment. In this ancient cultivation technique, we find the identity and historical heritage of the Apulian territory and its peasant roots. The tree also inspires the company logo and is the symbol around which the company is building a future of wine, sharing and beauty.
While respecting the history, the winery has modern and technologically advanced facilities and uses a modern bottling line. The barrel room houses about 3,000 French, American and Caucasian oak barrels.
Cantina San Marzano is present with its wines in 70 foreign markets, including Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Vietnam, Japan and the United States.
An emblematic wine of this winery is the Sessantanni a Primitivo di Manduria Dop 2013, obtained from vineyards of Primitivo ad Apulian sapling at least 60 years old. Another flagship product is the Collezione Cinquanta Red Wine of Italy, bland of Negroamaro and Primitivo grapes, IGP Salento.
