The Michele Calò e Figli Winery is located in Tuglie, in the province of Lecce (Puglia_/Italy) in South Salento. Created in 1954 by Michele Calò, it is a family-run business run today by children Fernando and Giovanni. A family linked to the territory and viticulture that has managed to make its wines known by marketing them directly in northern Italy. In fact, in Milan, the Calò brothers have a strong and constant presence.
Fernando and Michele personally follow all the processing phases of their wines. The company, still guardian of the ancient tradition handed down by Michele Calò, produces its rosé wines with the ancient teardrop processing. Emblematic is the Mjere rosè IGP Salento produced with the teardrop technique.
The 26 hectares of rented vineyards are divided into the municipalities of Tuglie, Alezio, Parabita and Sannicola. This choice allows you to have very different terrains even if they are only a few tens of meters apart. In them are grown native vines such as Negroamaro, Black Malvasia, Primitivo and Verdeca.
The company currently produces about 150 thousand bottles.
