Tormaresca winery of the Marchesi Antinori, located in San Pietro Vernotico (Brindisi_Puglia/Italy).
In 1998 the Marchesi Antinori group arrived in Puglia with two estates, located in the most important wine-producing areas of the region. The company’s mission is to produce great wines from native Apulian vines. Thus, the company recovers the cultivation of vines that derive from the Magna Graecia civilization: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Fiano Pugliese, Aglianico, Nero di Troia and Moscato Reale.
In 2009, in the Salento, the Tenuta Maime di Tormaresca was born, located in an area suited to the production of wine already in Roman times. A farm of the 600 where once the wheat was worked and it was vinified. Inside the estate is the Tormaresca winery. Very modern cellar equipped with the most advanced winemaking techniques. Immersed in a suggestive landscape of vineyards, olive groves and woods.
The company owns 500 hectares of owned land, of which 350 are vineyards and 80 are olive groves. The vines cultivated are the indigenous, Negroamaro and Primitivo, alongside Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon vines.
Today, Tormaresca produces 25 labels of DOP wine. 3,000,000 bottles are produced.
One of the emblematic wines of this winery is certainly the TORCICODA red wine Primitivo Salento IGP, which was also the first Apulian wine to enter into Wine Spectator’s Top 100.
