The Unione Agricola di Melissano winery is located in the small town in the province of Lecce (Puglia/Italy).
In 1959, 31 farmer members set up the Cooperative which today has about 900 members. The cultivation is mainly dedicated to vineyards and olive groves.
500 hectares of vineyards scattered among the municipalities of Salento, mainly in the municipalities of Melissano, Alliste, Racale, Ugento, Taviano and Casarano. The main cultivated vines are: Negroamaro, Black Malvasia of Lecce, Primitivo, Bombino, Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, White Malvasia and Moscatello Bianco Selvatico.
The cultivation is of Apulian sapling for older plants (such as Primitivo) while the more recent ones are not irrigated espaliers. The bottles produced each year are, on average, 150,000, divided into 11 labels.
