The origins of the Vetrère farm date back to 1600, when the Baroque flourished in Salento, of which architectural testimonies of great value are preserved.
An ancient 18th century map testifies that the Vetrère farm belonged to the Troilo family. In 1903, Serafina Troilo married Michele Ammazzalorsa, who left his possessions to his nephew Enrico Bruni, father of the current owners. Today the company is led by Annamaria and Francesca.
Lying on the strip of land that reaches the Ionian Sea from the slopes of the southern Murgia, where Puglia becomes Salento, the Vetrère farm fully expresses the food and wine vocation of a territory that makes traditions its identity.
The structure of the cellar is entirely in tuff, a limestone typical of Salento. Its star vaults and the characteristics of the tuff allow the cellar to maintain thermal insulation and a constant temperature, ideal conditions for preserving the organoleptic properties of the wine, during the aging and storage phase.
Several rooms in the cellar are used for processing. A room on the ground floor is entirely dedicated to French oak barrels, in which the top reds of our production are aged for 12 months, two prestigious labels such as Barone Pazzo and Lago della Pergola.
The ancient underground tanks, from which the tuff was obtained to erect the building, are the habitat where the wine is stored in the summer months.
