Produttori di Manduria

Cooperative Tradition and Commitment to Primitivo Excellence in the Heart of Manduria’s Terroir.

Produttori di Manduria is a historic cooperative winery founded in 1932 in the heart of Salento, in Manduria (Taranto province, Puglia). Established by a group of local grape growers united by the vision of enhancing the native Primitivo grape, it has grown into one of Italy’s most respected producers of Primitivo di Manduria DOC and DOCG wines. With over 90 years of continuous activity, the winery successfully blends ancestral farming wisdom with modern enological technology, ensuring high production standards and a strong sustainability commitment. Its grower-members cultivate more than 1,800 hectares of vineyards on the region’s distinctive red, calcareous soils — ideal for expressing the power, structure, and unique complexity of Primitivo.

History and Winemaking Philosophy

The story of Produttori di Manduria began in 1932, when visionary local growers founded a cooperative to elevate the Primitivo grape — then primarily used as blending wine — into a symbol of regional pride. This bold initiative evolved into a landmark achievement: the official recognition of the Primitivo di Manduria DOC in 1974 and, later, the prestigious DOCG status for the Dolce Naturale in 2011. Today, the winery’s philosophy rests on three pillars: respect for peasant tradition, rigorous grape selection, and targeted innovation aimed at expressing the Mediterranean soul of the wine — warmth, structure, ripe fruit, and minerality. Sustainability is central to its mission, with ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact and enhance local biodiversity, all while strengthening communal ties within Manduria’s viticultural landscape.
