The prestige of Salento rosé wine, born from a harsh land, kissed by the sun and embraced by two seas, has a very ancient history and tradition. Rosé wine in Salento has always been considered the most important wine, the best wine, the one destined for the aristocracy and also was the first to be marketed in Italy. Few know, in fact, that the first Italian rosé wine bottled and exported overseas, is Salento: a rosé for which an American general, Charles Poletti, fell in love, who, in the years of the Second World War, decided, contributing also to the choice of the name, to make the famous Five Roses known even outside the territories of Salento. It is no coincidence that the choice for the first real export operation of one of the most typical products of the Italian heel fell precisely on rosé wine, an authentic symbol of Salento wine production.
