MENONE Negroamaro Salento IGP, a red wine that was born in 2006 in Copertino from an idea of ​​the Vito Marulli winemaker. Produced with a limited run of 3000 bottles and obtained from grapes harvested from a vineyard owned by 1.30 Ha in the area of ​​Copertino.

The peculiarity of this vineyard is that it is made up of vine plants over 80 years old, cultivated with the traditional Apulian sapling method. The yield of these plants is equal to 40 qli per hectare. This use the traditional technique preserves the grapes from diseases and deterioration due to adverse weather events. Thus the grapes are allowed to receive better insolation than the espalier cultivation. Furthermore, the Apulian sapling enhances the quality of the grapes, naturally having a low yield.

The grapes are harvested manually in wooden crates generally in the third decade of September. Following the crusher-destemming, the must remains in maceration for about 15 days. Fermentation takes place with a controlled temperature maintained within 24-26 ° C. This is followed by the refinement of the wine for 4 years with 36 months of stay in underground cement tanks according to the classic Salento tradition.

MENONE Negroamaro is an innovative and unique wine as, unlike most of the important Negroamaro based wines, it is not aged in the wood. It is an incredibly authentic wine as it takes up the whole Salentine tradition of conservation or the refinement of Negroamaro wine in cement tanks. In fact, the MENONE is put on the market only after 36 months of aging in cement and a further period of acclimatization in the bottle. Only after 4 years, the MENONE is ready to give all its sumptuous power and its regal elegance. It is a wine that, if well preserved, can easily exceed 15 years and over of aging giving endless emotions.

MENONE Negroamaro has a bright ruby ​​red color but is impenetrable to light. The nose shows clear and decisive aromas but not exaggerated and dull. A full-bodied and structured wine, it is warm and harmonious on the palate, wrapping it like a warm and persuasive hug. In any case, it maintains an enviable acidity and freshness with a persistent finish that leaves no doubt as to its personality and greatness.
