Askos is the name of our project dedicated by Masseria li Veli to the research, selection and enhancement of the heritage of the autochthonous Apulian vines in danger of extinction. The name of this wine derives from the term askos, the Greek “decanter” of the 1st century BC. Askos is a wine produced from Verdeca grapes cultivated in the northern area of Salento, on the border with the Itria Valley, an area of choice for the production of this ancient grape variety.

The grapes are harvested manually in wooden boxes in the middle of September and then vinified in steel at controlled temperature. The wine finishes its preparation with an aging of 3 months in steel and is then left to rest in the bottle.

Askos verdeca has a bright yellow color with green highlights. The aroma is intense fruity, with hints of tropical fruit, green citrus fruits, Mediterranean scrub and fresh spices. Finally, the taste is full, harmonious, voluminous with a good acidity. Fruity and spicy aftertaste.
